FABIAN ALOMAR & TROUBLE : HOW TO MAKE A JAILHOUSE TATTOO MACHINE

so heres a pretty thorough guide on how to build a home made tattoo machine out of things you can only obtain in jail, with the guidence of Fabian Alomar and his homeboy Trouble. once built, we will show you how take your new jail gun and actually tattoo someone with it. fabian asked Trouble to come along to help us with this project cause he said he couldnt remember every detail on it, and didn't want to fuck it up. we wanted this thing up and runnin, making peoples lives better by the end of the night. ok, so lets get started... first thing you need is a shopping list (see below).

step 1. shopping list

step 2. go shopping. check your items to your list.

now normally you can trade cigarettes and soup for all these things, but because we're not actually in jail, we just went to rite-aid, radio shack, and guitar center. this is your basics, saran wrap, headphones, deodorant, an a/c power supply, cd walkman, nail clippers, face razors, lighters, razor blades (not pictured and hard to get pending on what jail youre living in) and guitar string. now the chess set and the shampoo are for making the ink. but by the time we got started it was late and trouble said that making the ink for the actual tattoo takes 24 hours. so we skipped that shit and borrowed ink from dressen at will rise. so your tools for this entire job are your razors and your nail clippers, its a bitch but thats how its done.

step 3. take your power adapter and cut the end off it.

step 4. strip the rubber off the ends with your blade, then twist each set of exposed wires until theyre nice and tied. this is used to power your machine. now put it away, we'll get back to it.

step 5. taking the corner of your razor blade, unscrew the cd player and take it completely apart.

step 6. find the motor in the motor housing and unscrew that as well.

step 7. more unscrewing.

step 8. carefully remove the motor, and clip the wires, cut off the rubber housing again like you did with the power supply and twist the wires. set all this aside.

step 9. take out a bic pen and take it all apart. pull the ink tube from the ball point head and run the tube under the sink until all the ink is gone. this is what your needle goes in. its called the tube.

step 10. take the cap of the pen and cut the tip off and bend the pocket clip to the side. this piece acts as your frame.

step 11. take the outer tube of your bic and cut about an inch off the top. use your blade and kind of score a ring around it, the saw though it. dont brake or chip this because this is your barrel.

step 12. take the back end of the barrel and slide it into the cap to make sure it fits right. you may have to cut off some more to get the right fit.

step 13. get an eraser from the end of a pencil an cut it off. this acts as an armature bar and a grommet.

step 14. stick the eraser on the end of the motor spindle. now put all of this aside.

step 15. making the needle. take your 17 guage guitar string and hold 2 sides of it, while a 3rd person heats the middle with a lighter until it becomes red hot. keep a proper tension on the line, when the string becomes too hot it will melt and break. when you pull it apart it will naturally stretch the wire to its sharpest point and sterilize it at the same time. now you have your needle.

step 16. now its time to put it all together. take a good amount of saran wrap and neatly fold it up. this is gonna bind the frame to the motor.

step 17. wrap that shit up tight

you can use whatever you have lying around. so fabbian made tape out of strips of the deoderant label to bind the frame, saran wrap, and the motor together.

your machine should look like this so far.

step 18. stick the barrel into the bic cap frame.

step 19. take the ball point part of the pen and poke the actual ball out of it. use the clippers as pliers and another string as a poker. this is now your tip. take the tube you cleaned all the ink out of and stick it back in the tip, and take that and stick it back into the barrel.

your machine should now look like this.

step 20. stick the needle in the gun and adjust accordingly.

step 21. you need to bend the end of the string near the motor at a 45 degree and poke it into the eraser. make sure its a little offset because this is what makes the needle go up and down. make sure you hang the needle out the font about a 1/4 to a 1/2 an inch.

step 22. hook up the power. twist the wires together of the a/c adaptor and the motor. use some of the sticker strips you made with the deodorant label to cover the open wires, because safety comes first.

and boom. you're done. just plug it in.

slap a tattoo design that you want on yourself for the rest of your life and fire that thing up.

make some fine tuning adjustments

It was in the mid nineteen nineties when, as professional skateboarder himself, Greg picked up his first camera, a still camera, and began to explore documenting his life and his friends’ lives within their surroundings, in the streets and on the road. Selective Memory encompasses sixteen years, combining over 150 still images with unseen archival film and video to offer a true inside glimpse of this particular outsider world.

The legacy that was built by “ The Soul Artist of Zoo York” and by the original “Zoo York Skateboard company founders” will live on forever.

Rodney : While it was amazing Mike did that for me...I was not in a financial position to keep it and had to sell it.

jeff: Tell me about Robert John Lange in detail. Wait let's back it up.

Whats your history and background in recording and playing music first

platt: Ok Background : I enjoy tracking when in the studio, more then the whole mixing process. Capturing the right sound is more interesting to me then getting "it" onto "tape" and manipulating it later in pro tools or some other recording program. Using different microphones, placement of the mic's and the overall room acoustics, to me, makes for a more organic sound. Im not some sort of analog nazi either. I believe that you can utilize both tape and a computer, if you don't you are limiting your potential. Unless you have a million dollars and have amazing outboard gear and 2 inch tape to fool around with. Anyone can learn how to push buttons and use plug-ins. I mean really you're just moving air around a room. Really an interview ?

jeff: Yes. Did u learn anything worth a crap about recording styles or techniques when u were in production school? Or was it mostly a self-taught education?

platt: I'm not saying that my schooling was a complete waste of time, but it was a very expensive mistake. It was good in the sense of getting familiar with professional gear. As far as problems in the studio or figuring things out on the fly, there's nothing more valuable then actually being in the studio. There are so many things that can go wrong, and that actually do go wrong when playing a show, or recording a band that knowing vocabulary terms ain't gonna help out

jeff: What made u quit interning at the recording workshop?

platt: Working for free sucked, working at a record store was fun

jeff: Tell me the story. Didn't you walk out cause they wanted u to clean the bathroom after the engineer shit in there?

platt: yeah , if you ever hear the words "can you get your intern to clean the bathroom ? I clogged it up real nasty" at your job...it's time to get a new one. Especially if your not getting paid for that job, and you already work full time somewhere else, and you're 20 yrs old, and it's puffy's engineer

jeff: So you refused to clean up Puffy's engineer's shit?

platt: Yes. Not a big shit person

jeff: Yeeeus! That's tight ………. ok so break down the album Hysteria and magic behind it

platt: To break down hysteria were gonna have to go back to '81 when "high n' dry came out". That was the album they got out of the kitty pool and decided to team up with Robert "Mutt" Lang. "bringing on the heartbreak" is one of the best ballads from the 80's. If you listen to the first record "on through the night" , then listen to "high n' dry" it's almost like listening to two different bands. After that record, comes my personal fav…"Pyromania". "Pyromania" has photograph, rock of ages, and foolin on it. The bridge on photograph came really close to pop genius. You get a real sense of mutt lang's influence on the band on Pyromania. It was #2 on the carts in '84. Now, right as this band is sitting on the top of the world, selling millions of records, sold out arenas, tragedy strikes... The fucking drummer loses an arm.

jeff: And kills a chick in a drunk driving accident that was his fault ……

platt: He's British They drink, don't go to the dentist, and kill people in accidents, Kinda like Vince Neal

jeff: Haha yes! what a cocksucker.

platt: This would break up any normal band, but DL ain't no regular band. Rick Allen, regroups learns to play drums with one arm, builds some weird foot pedal contraption, and they release Hysteria, 20 million records later, we all know now that DL is one of Britain's best imports

jeff: Which mutt dl song did u play for me, where you pointed out the 2" tape switch, or something like that

platt: Animal, pour some sugar on me, and love bites, say what you will, that records rips, Photograph, dude…. Song is the shit

jeff: Explain what a tape switch sounds like

platt: You can't really. It's one of those things that you pick up by being in the studio and recording

jeff: So mutt did hysteria as well?

platt: Yup, I mean dude did highway to hell, back in black, def leopards records, Shania twain, Billy ocean, Huey Lewis. Jesus the guy has probably sold like 50 million records

jeff: So basically he's a G.... oh, speaking of being a G, just so everyone knows, the first beer you ever shotgunned was an olde english in the can, correct?

platt: correct

A LETTER TO AMERICA FROM THE SAND PIT

It's freezing here. I'm sitting on hard, cold dirt

between rocks and shrubs at the base of the Hindu Kush Mountains , along

the Dar 'yoi Pomir River , watching a hole that leads to a tunnel that

leads to a cave. Stake out, my friend, and no pizza delivery for

thousands of miles.

I also glance at the area around my ass every ten to fifteen seconds to

avoid another scorpion sting. I've actually given up battling the

chiggers and sand fleas, but the scorpions give a jolt like a cattle

prod. Hurts like a bastard.. The antidote tastes like transmission fluid,

but God bless the Marine Corps for the five vials of it in my pack.

The one truth the Taliban cannot escape is that, believe it or not, they

are human beings, which means they have to eat food and drink water. That

requires couriers and that's where an old bounty hunter like me comes in

handy. I track the couriers, locate the tunnel entrances and storage

facilities, type the info into the hand held, shoot the coordinates up to

the satellite link that tells the air commanders where to drop the

hardware. We bash some heads for a while, then I track and record the new

movement.

It's all about intelligence. We haven't even brought in the snipers yet.

These scurrying rats have no idea what they're in for. We are but days

away from cutting off supply lines and allowing the eradication to begin.

I dream of bin Laden waking up to find me standing over him with my boot

on his throat as I spit into his face and plunge my nickel-plated Bowie

knife through his frontal lobe. But you know me, I'm a romantic. I've

said it before and I'll say it again: This country blows, man. It's not

even a country. There are no roads, there's no infrastructure, there's no

government. This is an inhospitable, rock pit shit hole ruled by eleventh

century warring tribes. There are no jobs here like we know jobs.

Afghanistan offers two ways for a man to support his family: join the

opium trade or join the army. That's it. Those are your options. Oh, I

forgot, you can also live in a refugee camp and eat plum-sweetened,

crushed beetle paste and squirt mud like a goose with stomach flu, if

that's your idea of a party. But the smell alone of those 'tent cities of

the walking dead' is enough to hurl you into the poppy fields to

cheerfully scrape bulbs for eighteen hours a day.

I've been living with these Tajiks and Uzbeks, and Turkmen and even a

couple of Pushtuns, for over a month-and-a-half now, and this much I can

say for sure: These guys, all of 'em, are Huns... Actual, living Huns..

They LIVE to fight. It's what they do. It's ALL they do.. They have no

respect for anything, not for their families, nor for each other, nor for

themselves. They claw at one another as a way of life. They play polo

with dead calves and force their five-year-old sons into human cockfights

to defend the family honor. Huns, roaming packs of savage, heartless

beasts who feed on each other's barbarism. Cavemen with AK-47's. Then

again, maybe I'm just cranky.

I'm freezing my ass off on this stupid hill because my lap warmer is

running out of juice, and I can't recharge it until the sun comes up in a

few hours. Oh yeah! You like to write letters, right? Do me a favor,

Bizarre, write a letter to CNN and tell Wolf and Anderson and that awful,

sneering, pompous Aaron Brown to stop calling the Taliban 'smart.' They

are not smart. I suggest CNN invest in a dictionary because the word they

are looking for is 'cunning.' The Taliban are cunning, like jackals and

hyenas and wolverines. They are sneaky and ruthless, and when confronted,

cowardly. They are hateful, malevolent parasites who create nothing and

destroy everything else. Smart. Pfft. Yeah, they're real smart.

They've spent their entire lives reading only one book (and not a very

good one, as books go) and consider hygiene and indoor plumbing to be

products of the devil. They're still figuring out how to work a Bic

lighter. Talking to a Taliban warrior about improving his quality of life

is like trying to teach an ape how to hold a pen; eventually he just gets

frustrated and sticks you in the eye with it.

OK, enough. Snuffle will be up soon, so I have to get back to my hole.

Covering my tracks in the snow takes a lot of practice, but I'm good at

it.

Please, I tell you and my fellow Americans to turn off the TV sets and

move on with your lives. The story line you are getting from CNN and

other news agencies is utter bullshit and designed not to deliver truth

but rather to keep you glued to the screen through the commercials. We've

got this one under control. The worst thing you guys can do right now is

sit around analyzing what we're doing over here, because you have no idea

what we're doing, and really, you don't want to know. We are your

military, and we are doing what you sent us here to do.
